So since I have moved to Chicagoland, I haven't yet found a gym to join. That's quite the change for me considering in Iowa City I went at least 5 times a week. Give or take. Maybe take. Sometimes I would skip. But the point is I went several times a week.
It was nice. It was a routine for me. I would get off work and on the walk home I would stop by the gym. I walked right past it and so it was hard to avoid. So now that I don't have that, I have to force myself to work out more because I haven't found a routine yet.
My apartment complex has this "fitness center". And by fitness center I mean a small room with 3 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, a stairstepper, a bike and one of those 4 weight machine things. Like the ancient one that was in my high school weight room. I tried going to that for awhile. But let's be hones, it only lasted a week. I couldn't help it, it was just so boring in there. I was often the only person in there and I would mostly just go to watch the t.v. because I didn't have cable or a t.v. yet.
So then I decided I would take up a new workout routine right out of my living room. The workout regimen is called Beachbody Insanity. And let me tell you, IT'S INSANE! Really it's difficult. Actually when I first started I couldn't even get through the whole warm-up. It's a 60-day program and I have been kind of following along but I also mix in some other things so I am not exactly on schedule. But I feel like it is getting a little easier. Maybe just a smidge. I still cannot get through a whole workout but neither can the trainers on the video, so that makes me feel not so bad. It makes my calves, my lungs, my arms, and everything else burn. I thought I was in shape before this but apparently I was wrong!
I am surprised with myself for actually keeping up with the workouts fairly well. That fact alone is exciting to me. Hopefully I can look like the rest of the before and after pictures, well the after pictures that is, when I am done. Those things are quite amazing. I have read a lot of good reviews too and I believe them..
So if you are looking for a new, difficult workout to kick your butt into shape you should try Beachbody Insanity.
As for me I am going to keep spacing out my workout and I am looking to join a new gym. I am also starting to train for a half marathon that is going down June 4. I am excited and these workouts are certainly helping with my training. I can't wait for the nice weather so I can workout outdoors in the sunshine. This cold, rainy thing we have going on here is getting old.
Anybody else have really good workouts they want to recommend to me?
Or want to run a half marathon wiht me :)
